Khorgo Uul is dead volcano which lies on the east of the Terkhinn Tsagaan in Arkhangai Aimag. The mountain Khorgo is covered with basalt. The National Park covers 28 square kilometers including Togoo uul- 2240 meters above sea level and the hill of the Terkhinn Tsagaan. It has been protection since 1965. An interesting sight is so called “ Basalt Ger” on the south, bubble of solidified lava with a broken piece making a natural door. Some atone gers are 1,7 metres tall. Several more volcanoes are near by. The volcanic crater of Togoo Uul is 200 meters wide 100 meters deep.

“Terkhiin Tsagaan Lake” Tour

Day1

Head to KharKhorin visit Erdene – Zuu Monastery the ancient capital of the Mongolian Empire in the 13th century. “Erdene Zuu” Monastery was built on the ruins of the KharKhorin in 1586, the first Buddhist center in Mongolia.The temples contain a valuable collection of Buddhist sculptures, artwork and books. Overnight at ger guesthouse. Horse riding possible.

Day2

Drive to Tsetserleg town. On the way stop at the “Tsenher” hot spring. Overnight at ger guesthouse.

Day3

After breakfast drive to “ Terkhiin Tsagaan” Lake and Khorgo mountain dead volcano.Overnight at traditional Mongolia ger guesthouse.

Day4

Drive back to “Taikhar rock” via Tsetserleg town. Overnight at ger guesthouse.

Day5

After breakfast drive back to UB the semi-desert which is a narrow sand dune lays about 90km long. Perfect place for hiking.Camel riding is possible.

Day6

After breakfast drive to UB,  on the way stopover and take some photos at Khustai National Park. Late afternoon come to UB.
